"Eat well for mental health"

About

Sam Bloom

— BA (Hons), DIP, CNM, MBANT

I am a BANT certified nutritionist, passionate about helping people to heal through affordable, easy to implement, customized nutritional strategies.

I was driven to become a Nutritional Therapist after unravelling and solving my own personal issues with food. Whilst I always loved food and eating, I realised that the relationship I developed with it was not always healthy.

As I worked on my own health issues and became healthier and happier, having transformed my relationship with food, I became determined to empower others to find the same freedom, confidence and health I found.

In my own experience, dealing with weight loss, hormone issues and an autoimmune condition by dieting didn’t work. However through developing an understanding of the medicinal capacities of food and its power to cure, I managed to turn my health around, and I’d love to help you do the same.

Nutrition is increasingly understood as a key element in both physical health and mental well being.

Overview

But how do we navigate the innumerable choices in an increasingly complex environment in which there is an overload of information, products and people, all offering to heal us? To support our busy lifestyles and the increasing glut of options, an easy and accessible method is required to help incorporate the right approach to food and nutrition in a manageable way.

Personal plans

Personal plans - How it Works

In a consultation we discuss your health, diet, lifestyle and goals. I will then give you a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan. Prior to our meeting, I will also ask you to complete and return a health questionnaire and three day food diary, ideally at least 48 hours before our meeting so we can maximise our time together. During your initial consultation, we will usually schedule a follow-up session for 6-8 weeks later to track your progress, maintain your goals and fine tune your individualised plan. Subsequent follow-up sessions may also be arranged based on your individual needs. Most imbalances can be resolved within a few sessions, more chronic complaints may take longer. My aim is to help my clients find an optimal and individualised plan of eating that suits their need on a journey to wellness. This may include working with others such as Psychotherapists and General practitioners.

Philosophy

Progress not perfection

Philosophy

Easy to implement and lifestyle-friendly plans.

Philosophy

My philosophy is progress not perfection, keeping things simple and achievable. I am passionate about food in its natural state - dug up from the earth, picked from a bush.

I am interested in the hunter-gatherer approach of our ancestors, focusing on eating whole foods in their natural state. I believe it is essential to move away from processed food as much as possible, while also understanding that we all have busy, often stressful lives, and that we have to avoid increasing our stress and guilt if we don’t stick to optimal eating guidelines at all times.
